“We had parked our cars outside the hotel and walked down to the restaurant for dinner and we were eating and it starting chucking it down,” Bruce recalls. “It only rained for an hour, but we had never even known anything like it.”

Bruce and wife Jacqueline had gone to the Hotel Envía Almería Spa & Golf with 10 other friends and the other two cars they travelled in also suffered significant damage.

Bruce says he went to see Jane and Kayleigh at Kyna Insurance and they booked an appointment for him at a garage in Torrevieja. “Jane said to go and see them and that they would tell me what I can and can’t get repaired.”

After this first visit on 6th November, Bruce returned on the 18th and was informed that the garage could repair everything and he just had to pay a 200€ excess and that the insurance company would cover everything else (€4,268,24).

Bruce decided to leave the car with the garage for a week in December while he and his wife were in the UK visiting their three children for Christmas and when he came back, the car was looking brand new.

“My Hyundai was looking really really good, they did a really good job,” Bruce says.

But when Jane and Kayleigh found out Bruce had paid a €200 excess, they got to work again.

“I went back to see Jane and Kayleigh and we were chatting and they said “you don’t have to pay €200! I said it’s nothing, you guys are paying so much and you’ve been so brilliant that I have no complaint whatsoever.” But they said, “no, you don’t have to pay that.” A week later I had the €200 back in my account”, Bruce said.

“All three cars were damaged, but my car was done first. Theirs’ were repaired and they got their money back but it was at least a month after I did, so mine was done a lot quicker,” Bruce says.

Bruce and Jacqueline also have home insurance, private health insurance and another car insurance policy for Jacqueline’s mini with Kyna Insurance.

“We do everything with them (Kyna Insurance) because when I find a company that I like then I just tell all of my friends, look this is a brilliant company and we are never moving to anyone else… unless you all retire and shut up shop!”
