One of the things former civil servant Mary highlighted was how happy she was to be able to speak to someone and not have to be “repeating, repeating, repeating yourself to get them to understand what the problem is.”

Mary and Patrick, who used to work in materials management, are the proud owners of a bungalow in Torrevieja that they visit for 6-8 weeks three times a year.

Unfortunately on March 12th this year, they suffered a water leak due to bad piping. The problem was made worse by the fact that the water pipe ran up to their home inside the wall of their neighbour’s apartment in the basement below.

Despite all their attempts, the Naughtons were unable to contact them as the apartment had not been lived in for 10 years.

“Kayleigh contacted the plumber and he came round and solved the problem for us,” Mary said.

The plumber recommended redirecting a new pipe from the water meter to their attic, but this time outside the building and when he said he could do this the next day, Mary “jumped at the offer”.

“We could only turn on the water on as we needed it and bring up buckets for flushing and that sort of thing and I was fed up with it at that point. I just wanted it sorted as soon as possible.”

Mary said they spent €2,100 on building the new water pipe and after their previous experience with another insurance company, they were not at all sure if they were going to get any of that money back. She said her previous insurer not only did not cover the cost of fixing the leak then, but also ramped up their annual premium to boot!

Mary and Patrick decided enough was enough.

“I thought I would have a look and see if I could get something cheaper and we had emails from Jane and Kayleigh from the previous year when we found them (Kyna Insurance) online.”

“It was great to speak to them (Kyna Insurance) in English because my Spanish isn’t too good and Kayleigh did absolutely excellent. She took a lot of pressure off me I’ll be quite honest with you,” Mary added.

Mary and Patrick were reimbursed € 1353.53 and Mary says: “I was really pleased because I didn’t think I was going to get anything back at all.”
